Mike Sablone

For the last three years I have had the privilege of being the Producing Artistic Director of The Warehouse Theatre in Greenville, South Carolina. These last three have been extraordinarily fulfilling from both a personal and professional standpoint. I have met some of the most inspiring and hard-working artists while in the Upstate. I'm immensely proud to have produced everything from the classics (THE CRUCIBLE featuring students from the Fine Arts Center), to horrifyingly relevant musicals (BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON helmed by our assistant director from Broadway Andrew Scoville), alongside world premieres (Paul Grellong's POWER OF SAIL, about the rise of white nationalists on college campuses). These are my people, and this is my home. And right now we're facing an unprecedented crisis. Because of COVID-19, we have been forced to cancel the last three productions in our 2019-2020 Season. For the non-profit arts sector, where ticket sales and concessions are a vital portion of revenue and how we keep our doors open, a closure and cancellation can be devastating. It affects the staff and our artists, but it also greatly impacts our community. We are the only fully professional theater in Greenville committed to producing work that is about our community. We have a vibrant education department that has been mostly shut down. We are an art form based around community, and gathering together right now is impossible. We are committed to paying the staff and the artists affected by this shut down. As of right now, expected earned revenue income losses for our organization could exceed $80,000+ for the end of the 2019-2020 fiscal year (June 30). Now, more than ever, we need your support. If you are in a position to help, a donation (no matter the size) would make a world of difference in helping us continue to pay our employees and the artists impacted by this shutdown and help us weather the storm for the next year. The Warehouse Theatre will continue producing relevant, professional, entertaining stories, and providing an outlet for our community (seriously take a look at our 20-21 season), but we can't do it without your help. Please stay safe, stay informed, and stay positive. Thank you so much for your consideration!

A Letter From The Warehouse Theatre Staff

For those of us operating in the non-profit arts sector, where ticket sales and concessions are a vital portion of our revenue and how we are able to keep our doors open, a closure and cancellation can be devastating and affects our staff, artists, and community.

As of right now for our Main Stage we had to cancel the last week of HEDWIG plus the entire runs of both 100 SAINTS YOU SHOULD KNOW and APPROPRIATE. We both of our Upstate Shakespeare Festival productions of OTHELLO and LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST . The majority of our education workshops and partnerships have been cancelled due to school closures. Conservatively we have lost at least $87k in earned revenue and also face an uncertain future.

Now, more than ever, we need your support.

If you are in a position to help, a donation (no matter the size) would make a world of difference in helping our artists and staff continue to operate through this. 100% of your gift is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. No goods or services will be received in exchange for your donation.

Many artists across the country, including ones that we employ, live paycheck to paycheck. They are freelancers or hold these jobs as secondary to help make ends meet. We feel it is our duty to do everything we can to support these artists and are compensating everyone who has lost work from shows we had to cancel and are paying the staff to work remotely.

Looking forward, we have already announced a great slate of shows for the 20-21 season. We're happy to say these packages are now on sale, early, to give you another way to support your favorite regional theatre.

Our plan is to continue producing relevant, professional, entertaining stories, and providing an outlet for our community. We eagerly await the chance to welcome you back to our space. Until we are able to see you again please stay safe, stay informed, and stay positive. We will get through this stronger than before, and these stories and opportunities to gather as a community will continue to matter more than ever.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for being here for us.
