The Ithaca/Tompkins County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), operating under and managing the brand "Visit Ithaca", is an important contributor to our community and local economy through visitor spending and the tax dollars they leave behind. The CVB is part of the Tompkins Chamber, and the entire organization is a nonprofit! However, many of the funding sources available to other area nonprofits have not been available to support the important work of the CVB.
It is important to share with our partners and community that the CVB has experienced a nearly 50% reduction in total funding from all sources in 2020, and expects similar impacts in 2021. Yet our team has continued to work hard to support our tourism partners and to attract and serve visitors to our community, which has a direct impact on small businesses and residents in our region. This work drives visitor dollars to our community, demonstrates a return on investment, and has a positive impact on residents in our community through tax revenue and supporting employment opportunities for area workers.
We really need your help.
