About School-based Food Pantry


Help increase food access to youth in our community! Assist New Roots Charter School in the overall coordination of a newly established school-based food pantry. Help the NRCS student population access the pantry one day a week to select healthy, nutritious food options.

We need volunteers to help with:

  • School-based Food Pantry Assistant
    Sign up!
    Commitment: Fridays during the school year; 10 am to 2 pm

    Location: Wegman’s Loading Dock, Friendship Donations & New Roots Charter School, Clinton House

    Key Responsibilities:
    •Sort and transport food donations from Friendship Donations to NRCS school food pantry
    •Assists with the clean, safe and efficient operation of the food pantry
    •Processes food donations and stocks pantry shelves in timely manner
    •Maintains the required paperwork and reports
    •Ensure that the pantry is opened and closed in a timely manner without delays

    •Transportation required to pick up food donation
    •Must be available during NRCS Food Pantry hours
    •Some lifting required
    •Involves walking, stooping, standing and reaching to a significant degree.
