Hi, Family and Friends! Please help me support Good Neighbors Federal Credit Union by making a donation through my page.
In the western neighborhoods of Buffalo, a lot of people don't speak English at home, and a lot of people are living on low incomes--and as a result, one in four people don't have access to basic financial services. Good Neighbors FCU will be a really important alternative to the predatory financial services that take advantage of that lack of access.

1 in 4 people in western Buffalo don't have access to basic financial services. Join us in opening a credit union that will meet unique needs in our community.
In the West Side, Black Rock and Riverside neighborhoods of Buffalo, there are barriers that keep people from accessing the financial services they need.
Our diverse neighborhoods include refugees, people living on low incomes, and a lot of people who don't speak English at home. Traditional financial services are not meeting the needs of our community, and without access to basic financial services, our neighbors are paying way too much to do things like cash checks, take out small loans, and pay bills. This makes saving money for goals like education, starting a business or owning a home incredibly difficult for a huge number of people our community. One in four of us don't have access to basic financial services.
By starting a cooperatively-owned credit union, we're going to build bridges over those barriers. Through Good Neighbors FCU, neighbors will help neighbors, and we'll be able to offer the services our community needs and uses, so that all of us can achieve our dreams.
We already have preliminary credit union status, $2.5 million in deposits, and a solid strategic plan. Now, we need to apply for status as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), and complete an application for $150,000 in Technical Assistance, which would provide funds for staffing, systems development, and all kinds of stuff we need to open. To take on these projects, we need to hire a consultant.
If funded, this campaign will allow us to do that, and take the critical next step to opening in our strategic plan. Will you help?
