I support this organization’s mission and I want it to have a greater impact on the community. Every dollar donated the Larry and Lillian Goodman Foundations will donate two, (for example a $25 donation becomes $75, a $100 becomes $300! We need to invest in prevention. Operation Snowball offers an opportunity for youth to THRIVE now and in the future as adults. Prevention gives both short-term and long-term benefits: a healthy teen now, is personally and academically successful, who in turn becomes a positive successful adult in the community... one that lives, thrives and invests in the community they live in.

About this Campaign

Teri Belgio

Your donation to Snowball keeps prevention rolling into the future!

The volunteer Operation Snowball Board of Directors is kicking off the Operation Snowball Summer of '17 fundraising campaign from July 7th - July 21st. As our new fiscal year began on July 1 we reflected on our successes in the past year, but also acknowledged the reality of financial stressors created by state budgets and shrinking funding sources.  In order to meet our mission of Operation Snowball we rely on the support of Illinois state prevention grants as well donations from foundations and dedicated individuals like you.

Why Donate?

Your donation helps Operation Snowball Inc. continue to provide: skill-building trainings to youth leaders and adult sponsors; assistance and training to schools developing a new Chapter; trademarked program materials and manuals to Chapters; coordination of regional and state conferences and provides resources through our website and newsletters.

Your donation during this campaign will have a 2:1 match made possible by the generous donation from the Lillian and Larry Goodman Foundations.

Your donation will have triple impact!

Impact of Snowball

81 Snowball Chapters in schools/communities throughout Illinois (and a couple in neighboring states). To see Chapter locations click here

Annually there are 104,000 students in schools and communities throughout Illinois that are exposed to positive healthy messages communicated and role modeled by Snowball youth leaders.

15,000 students attend a Snowball event annually. A snowball event is an interactive experiential event lead by trained youth leaders. Youth leaders create positive social norming and facilitate discussions & activities that increases knowledge, skills and personal insight about how drug addiction, underage drinking and other harmful behaviors affect youth in their school years.

Youth are part of the solutions. Operation Snowball youth leaders:

  • Increase their peers’ knowledge about drug addiction/alcoholism
  • Interact with fellow students through positive discussions and activities to self-reflect on personal goals and the negative impact that underage drinking and illicit drug use will have on personal and academic success
  • Are vocal and active role models promoting healthy alcohol/drug-free attitudes & behaviors which creates positive norms for their peers and schools to emulate

Operation Snowball received the 2016 Peer Program of the Year award by the National Association of Peer Program Professionals
