Rudy Aten

In the height of Covid, alone in my small apartment, I realized something. I needed a buddy. I had the means to take care of a dog, I had a big green space at my apartment complex, I had parents not far away with a big backyard. I was teaching online school so knew I could be home to take care of and train a puppy. It was the perfect time. I headed to Snipsa's website and immediately saw Rudy. His name at the time was "Spruce" but I knew he would be Rudy. He had a rim of hair missing around his eyes, big fluffy ears, and looked like trouble. My mom even said so as soon as she saw his picture. "He looks mischievous." To me, he looked perfect. Scruffy and full of personality. I called, half expecting for him to already be spoken for, but to my delight he was available. The very next day I was headed to his foster home to pick him up. Rudy was sweet and quiet and lovely for approximately 5 days. Once he felt safe to be himself, we were in for the adventure of a lifetime. I now had a puppy who abhorred scooters (a challenge for living along the San Antonio riverwalk), burped after every meal (that's weird right?!), and got the zoomies several times a day (my dad was and still is basically a parkour prop when this happens). He talked back with the sass of a teenager, made the vacuum cleaner his mortal enemy, and won us all over with his overwhelming cuteness. I don't know what I'd do without Rudy, my sweet and strange companion. He has been my comfort in so many times of need. He has been my laughter after the toughest of days. A family member recently said "Whatever soul got to be reincarnated into sweet little Rudy must have done some amazing things in his/her past life." I am eternally grateful for the work that Snipsa does to give animals another chance and to offer the feeling of "home" to so many in our community. Please consider donating to an incredible organization and making Rudy the "Face of the Race" for 2022!
