Opal Oefinger

I support this organization’s mission and I want it to have a greater impact on the community.

Opal came to me 8 months ago through SNIPSA. She had been abandoned on the streets and then found by a good samaritan who took her to a small County shelter, and, from there, SNIPSA took her in, gave her the vet care she needed and provided her with a wonderful foster home.  After I adopted Opal, my vet could see signs that Opal had given birth to multiple litters - a good chance she had been a puppy mill mama.  Some medical issues did appear, and, after some scans, it was found she had a heart murmur, and a double hernia as a result of birthing all those children !!  What that little body had to go through is sad. :(   To my amazement, SNIPSA offered to pay for a board certified surgeon to perform the double hernia surgery. Words cannot express my gratitude !!

Opal also initially showed signs of a distrust of men. But, she has come a loooong way on that front - we go to Home Depot and Lowes as much as we can, so that she can see a lot of men, and she is much more comfortable around them.  In fact, her very favorite toy is my brother's rolled up socks.  I have seen a lot of progress in her since I adopted her 8 months ago - at first she was not very fond of toys, being outside or even affection.  Well, that has all certainly changed !!   She is so much more confident, bubbly, and loves her toys, walks, and chasing the squirrels in the back yard.  I cant wait to see what the future holds for her !!

Please donate if you can, and help SNIPSA save another yet-to-blossom rescue pet !!

Your pet could be a SUPERSTAR!

Fame and Fortune Awaits for One Lucky Pet!

To the right you will find the sweet faces and extraordinary stories of this year's Face of the Race contestants. The pet that raises the most money before midnight on July 31st will become the official petfluencer of the 15th Annual Race for the Rescues. You may donate as many times and for as many animals as you'd like. All proceeds from the contest provide medical care for rescues within SNIPSA's adoption program and spay/neuter outreach for underserved areas in San Antonio.

Thank you for your support!
