KK's Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Thank you for taking the time to visit and read my fundraiser page! I am joining forces with the Arthritis National Research Foundation (ANRF) to raise funds for research.  Like so many important causes that have been designated a month for awareness-- July has been designated for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Awareness Month. The ANRF is dedicated to funding groundbreaking research, advancing treatments, and working towards finding a cure for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). My goal to raise $1,000 in honor of JIA Awareness Month-- is personal.

My forty year arthritis journey began at age 13. In the beginning of 1984, after months of swelling, pain and inability to grasp objects, I was diagnosed by a Rheumatologist with what I described in my journal as "a kind of arthritis that should go away in about three years."  Despite years of wishful thinking, it did not! Ultimately, arthritis spread throughout my joints, attacking my knees, ankles, neck, elbows, etc. Throughout the past decades the disease has debilitated me and wreaked havoc on my body. Resulting in the past few years filled with multiple surgeries and rehabilitation. I am setting off the metal detectors like crazy!

In the early 80's scientific research was advancing but treatments were primarily limited to reducing the swelling and pain. Fortunately, we have organizations like ANRF that fund early-career scientists who are dedicated and focused on arthritis and related auto-immune diseases. Scientific research has led to treatments that can limit the disease progression and provide temporary relief. It is through these progressive treatments that I have been able to live actively for years at a time.

There is no cure for Arthritis--yet. JIA does not stop when you become an adult. My arthritis, like many others, advanced to other diseases including osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylosis. I am here to help find a cure for juvenile idiopathic arthritis not only for the kids suffering today or tomorrow but also to help the future aged arthritic patients, like myself.

Together, we can fight against juvenile idiopathic arthritis and bring hope to children battling this debilitating disease. Join me in this mission by making a donation today. Your support will fund critical research leading to more discoveries, more treatments, and ultimately, a cure. Let's show them the power of our collective compassion and make a lasting impact.

With any donation you can be entered in a Raffle for the following events:

KK's Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Join our SUPER SQUAD! We have our super-kids and super-scientists, we just need YOU. Create your #JIASUPERSQUAD fundraiser and make a heroic difference!

Every hero needs a squad, an assembly that stands together to bring justice and hope to those who need it most. This Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Awareness Month, we are asking you to join our SUPER SQUAD and help bring new and better treatments to over 300,000 children affected by JIA each year.

You don't have to wear a cape or fly to help! A gift supporting the Arthritis National Research Foundation goes directly to the brightest scientific minds working to uncover new therapies. We've assembled the rest of the team - the strongest kids around and brilliant scientists working toward a cure. We're just missing one thing: you. Will you join us this year and be the hero we need?
