Ti'are Stroud-Lewis

Aloha! I am so excited to be joining Goals for Girls as a member of their 2019/2020 program team in Bangalore, India this coming December. While I am in India, I will be learning what life is like as a girl from vulnerable areas of India, and then work with over 200 girls from all over the country during the 6th Annual Goals for Girls Leadership Summit. During our Summit, I (along with every Indian girl in attendance) will take on the Goals for Girls Challenge of becoming a change agent in my community. As a part of my commitment to encouraging young women to live as leaders, I am raising money to send myself to India, as well as raising funds to bring girls from all over India to our Summit. I know everyone can't physically join this journey with me, but I'd love to invite you to follow my journey, and if you are able, to make a contribution toward making this dream and goal a reality for me and girls across India. I have ALWAYS wanted to do a humanitarian trip! I want to explore the World and gain experiences through meeting new people. I would like to gain more perspective on different cultures and be able to have a deeper understanding of their lives. I believe to serve and help someone achieve what they want to do, is what we should strive to do in our lives! I have been so blessed to live the life that I have and to have all these opportunities for success. I would love to be able to help someone achieve the goals they set out to achieve! This program allows girls who do not have the same opportunities that I have been so fortunate to have, set goals to become someone they've always wanted to be. This program allows them to change what their society thinks and it perspective on girls and women in general. We are brave, we are strong! As a leader, I am the one who makes sure things get done. I want to teach goal setting, hear others suggestions and opinions, how they would solve the project, and create an environment where everyone feels safe to express what they feel. I care deeply about my peers, friends, and family. I am a strong leader in both soccer and school. I have been the Captain of my Club Soccer Team for the past three years and the Class President at my High School for the past three years! I want to improve on being able to connect better with people and to have a deeper understanding of how I can help others. I want to be the person that everyone feels like they can talk to about anything, and trust me. I believe this opportunity is going to advance my leadership qualities and be a great adventure serving others and learning about a new culture! Thank you for being apart of my journey, Ti’are Stroud-Lewis

About this Campaign

Empowering girls from across India through soccer

Overview:

Goals for Girls partners with organizations around the world that use soccer as a tool to tackle issues affecting girls in disadvantaged areas. India is one of the most challenging places in the world to be a girl, and experiences a lot of gender discrimination, and thus we have selected it as one of our main target countries. India has several organizations around the country that are using soccer, the most popular sport in the world, as a tool for community and personal development. For many girls in India, soccer is more than just a game: it is an important and innovative tool that provides a vital outlet to girls who are victims of poverty, social inequality, and increased health risk.

Our Next Program:

This year’s Goals for Girls India program team will be traveling to Bangalore for 9 days in late December. During this program, participants will learn what life is like as a girl from disadvantaged areas in Bangalore (including introductions to education, healthcare, the power of sport, cultural practices, etc), and then will join around 200 under-privileged girls from all over India at the 6th Annual Goals for Girls Leadership Summit (a 4 day event). During this Summit, girls will learn how to become better leaders on the pitch and in their communities.

This trip is potentially life-changing for all of the girls involved. This program will give the US program team the chance to empower their Indian peers while growing themselves; a true cultural exchange that will help tackle issues facing girls around the world, in turn helping to create true global citizens.

How you can Help:

We would like to invite you to join and follow this amazing journey and project, and to be a contributing member in making this opportunity reality. Even though you can’t physically be with us as we prepare for and execute this project, we invite you to join us in making a monetary contribution. Through persistence and hard work we have already garnered some financial support and are hoping to raise enough money not only to bring the Salt Lake City program team to India, but to also pay the costs for the 200+ Indian girls traveling to Bangalore for the Summit, which includes lodging, transportation, food, and on the ground programming.

Thank you for considering this request; we would truly appreciate anything you can do to help, even if it is just cheering us on from afar. If making a financial contribution is of interest, 100% of your contribution will be applied to our fundraising goals on this India project and all contributions are tax-deductible. Goals for Girls is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and will send a tax receipt for every contribution made. Thank you for considering supporting this project!
