The Irvington Public Library has been a part of my entire life. Even when I was a baby, my parents pushed my stroller to the library every day, whether it was at the original location in the Village Hall or our current location on Astor Street. I attended every program there was for my age group, and by doing this met my first and best friend that I've ever known. Even to this day, we are inseparable. If the library was closing, I cried until someone reminded me that the library would be open again the next day. I then came to realize that many of our staff members, like our former Director Pam Strachan, were like family members to me, and were always open to hearing how my day was going or when I had a problem. My point here is that there is no other library in Westchester that has the same tight-knit community feeling that Irvington has. My story began with the library, and it will always evolve with the library. Like me, there are many young boys and girls that wander with curiosity through our stacks each day like I did, who look up to our kind and caring librarians like I did, who depend on our services for both entertainment and education like I did.
