About four years ago, I stumbled across Coalition for Healthy School Food. At the time, I was trying figure out my concentration for the Master's of Public Health program that I was starting. As a vegan, who is passionate about learning ways which nutrition impacts our society, this organization seemed like a perfect match. I began to volunteer regularly, later being asked join the Junior Council...and I never looked back! I support this organization’s mission and I want it to have a greater impact on the community. The Coalition works tirelessly to bring nutrition education and healthy food to children across the country, but what touches me the most is the work they do in some of the most undeserved and overlooked communities. They don't just switch the children's food and leave. The Coalition creates a learning environment for the entire family, using the family's feedback to help the school figure out how to best serve them. I've been to Family Dinner Nights and seen elementary students running to be first in line at the SALAD BAR! If that's not enough proof that their work is not in vain, I don't know what is :-) So, please, support me in supporting them. Help us raise money, so that we can continue to expose children to a world of food beyond processed cheese snacks and technicolor soft drinks. They deserve better than that.

Ride in the New York City TD 5 Boro Bike Tour to Raise Funds for the Coalition for Healthy School Food

Sunday, May 07, 2017

Thank you so stopping by. We're so glad you're here!

The Coalition for Healthy School Food (CHSF) is a nonprofit that introduces plant-based food and nutrition education in schools to educate the whole school community in New York City, New York State, and around the country. Your donation will help us provide nutrition education in the classrooms of Title 1 schools in the Bronx, Harlem, and Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and also educate parents, teachers, and food service personnel.

Our programs help students and the whole school community  learn that they are in charge of their own health destiny, using inquiry based learning to become critical thinkers about food. Students learn about their health, and the impact of their food choices on the environment and animals.
