I know it’s late but I’ve decided to jump in on this fundraising competition. My love for all the cats and dogs I have adopted and fostered over the twenty years I have been a part of HSWM compels me to enter my husband and dogs in the hike. (You are welcome Ross!) I will be working on the day of the Classic so I can’t hike myself. However, I will happily check you in if you decide to come. If you can’t join the fun consider this, your contribution promotes the human animal bond by providing care to all the cats and dogs (and at this moment ferrets, chinchillas and rabbits) in our care while they await “furever homes.” This year Max and I are dedicating our page to all the special friends who stayed here during the fires in Western Montana. My favorite fire evacuees were a Mastiff and Great Dane who quickly stole our hearts playing together like small ponies, which I (occasionally) watched out my office window. Maybe not everyone knows this but we are not just a shelter for unwanted pets, we are a resource during a crisis-like a wildfire. We help our greater community by taking pets from higher volume shelters in and out of state. Recently we sent our best behaviorist to help recovering and lost pets in Texas. I invite you to support our work in Montana and beyond. Thank you, Paws Up for making the Canine Classic an extraordinary opportunity to hike in the company of friends for a great cause.

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE 9TH ANNUAL CANINE CLASSIC AT PAWS UP IS CLOSED. SAME-DAY REGISTRATION WILL OCCUR AT PAWS UP DURING THE SCHEDULED CHECK IN TIMES. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING. 

Competitive Runners (Timed Half-Marathon & Timed 5-Mile Races) - Click here for your registration page.

The Canine Classic is a timed run/hike for people and their pups! This event is for both the competitive and the compassionate. Participants can choose from timed half-marathon or 5-mile races, or take in the scenery during a 5-mile or 2-mile hike. Dogs are welcome and encouraged to attend and enjoy this leash-free event on the trap-free lands at The Resort at Paws Up.

After the race the staff at Paws Up prepares a gourmet BBQ complete with beer & wine. PLUS there are great prizes, race swag and fun giveaways.

TOP fundraisers will win great prizes from HSWM and Paws Up. The fundraiser who raises the most money by noon on Saturday, October 7 will win two tickets and transportation to the Wine & Bitch Dinner at Paws Up that night!

All proceeds support the Humane Society of Western Montana.

8:30 am Timed Half-Marathon check in

9:00 am Timed Half-Marathon (without dogs)

9:10 am Time Half-Marathon (with dogs)

9:30 am Timed 5-Mile check in

10:00 am Timed 5-Mile (without dogs)

10:10 am Timed 5-Mile (with dogs)

10:00-11:00am 5-Mile and 2-Mile hikes

12:00 pm Lunch!
