About 9/11 Day- International Exchange Volunteer- NYC

Youth for Understanding (YFU) is one of the world's largest and most respected international exchange programs. YFU exchanges American and international students in over 50 countries worldwide! If you love learning about new cultures and meeting people from different backgrounds, YFU wants to meet you! There are many different volunteer positions available through YFU, so whatever talents you have to contribute, there is a volunteer opportunity that is perfect for you.

If you would like to be a part of the International Student's experience in the US, you can help us to recruit and interview host families, provide support to students and host families during their time here, and coordinate successful orientations for our participants.

If you are interested in our Americans Overseas program (AO), you can help us recruit students to go overseas, interview students after they apply, help with pre-departure orientation, and help to coordinate AO alumni events.

These are only two areas to which volunteers can contribute. There are plenty of other tasks that need to be accomplished and we believe that there is a way for you to bring your experiences and individuality to our team!

If you are interested in learning more about how Youth For Understanding works in your community, please feel free to attend our "YFU Gathering" on Saturday April 17th, 2010 at the Community Church of NY Unitarian Universalist located at 40 East 35th St. New York, NY 10016-3870.

This event will run from 10am- 4pm and will give members of the community a chance to talk with International Students, Host Families, and Volunteers about YFU programs. If you have any additional questions you can contact Jacob Carter at (617)-868-3660 x 1102.
Volunteers should have a strong interest in young people and the global community as well as interacting with people from various backgrounds. YFU volunteers should have enthusiasm for the exchange experience, flexibility, good judgment, willingness to carry out YFU policies and procedures and be at least 18 years of age.
