About Earth Day Celebration at Montana Audubon Center
Saturday, April 22, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
For the 9th consecutive year, YRPA will collaborate with our friends and colleagues at the Montana Audubon Center for the Annual Earth Day Celebration, a day of stewardship projects and education about caring for our planetary home. The 2017 International Earth Day theme is “Environmental and Climate Literacy”, which is a great chance to highlight the work we’re doing at the Center.
FEATURED THIS YEAR: FREE TREES FOR EARTH DAY! With our partners at the Yellowstone County Conservation District, we are offering FREE trees for Earth Day participants; 300 bare-root trees ready for landscape planting, including Green Ash, Thorn-less Honey Locust, Silver Linden, and Sioux-land Poplar, in 2′ – 6′ sizes.
Work and fun at the Center begin at 9:00 am. Participants will have their choice of projects, from naturalist-led trash pickup hikes to planting native species, mulching, and weeding. We will have special family-friendly restoration activities, so bring the kids, too.
Join us for an hour or the whole day. Bring water, work gloves, and the whole family. If you have one, bring a shovel! No fee for participation; volunteers are invited to a free BBQ lunch at noon. Event takes place rain or shine!
