About Volunteer with Year Up in Providence!

Year Up RI values and relies upon dedicated volunteers to bolster students' experiences. We host a variety of one-time and ongoing engagements that can be tailored to different skills, interests, and schedules. All activities are designed to provide the highest possible benefit to our students and volunteers.

One-day engagements include activities such as guest speaking, networking events, mock interviews, resume reviews, and organizing the professional clothing closet. For example, during resume reviews, we host volunteers to individually engage with students and provide constructive criticism on their resumes. On a similar scale, our mock interview events allow students to hone their skills and receive feedback from volunteers acting as hiring managers. Events like these occur multiple times a year and provide students with invaluable feedback and networking opportunities--integral components of our professional training regimen. In addition, many partners have also hosted students for on-site, one-time workshops.

For those seeking longer-term volunteer engagements, Year Up RI offers tutoring and mentoring programs. Through these opportunities, each volunteer is paired with a student to help the young adult with specific coursework or support the individual's overall professional growth.
