About Baby Mammal Volunteer

In the early spring and fall WRR rescues hundreds of baby squirrels, opossums and fawns from rescuers. These animals will be fed and cared for until they are old enough to transition to release back into the wild. We need help from caring volunteers with this huge endeavor.

Volunteers interested in joining the Baby Mammal Program are required to attend Baby Mammal Program Orientation, as part of their first 4-hour shift. During orientation, volunteers are educated as to WRR philosophies & practices and trained to set up cages properly for each species and correctly hand-feed older babies and adolescents, as well as essential shift protocol.
