In our community, many families cannot afford new clothes for their school-aged children, which can hinder both attendance and successful learning. Together with our community, WVCS* is able to provide hundreds of families with these much needed back-to-school clothes through our Back to School Shopping Spree event, sending children back to school with improved confidence and self-esteem.
At the Back to School Shopping Spree event, children are given a $100-150 gift certificate to shop for brand new back-to-school clothes. We are currently looking for volunteer Chaperones to help ensure that this event is a success.
Volunteer Position: Chaperone
Date: Saturday, August 9, 2014 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM
Position Description: Each volunteer will be paired with a child that they will escort through JC Penney as they shop for back to school clothes. Chaperones will help children choose items, escort them to the fitting room as needed, help them maximize their gift card, assist them with check out, and escort them to the Check-Out Table to be picked up by their parent/guardian. Chaperones are invited to have breakfast with their new buddy (provided by WVCS) after they finish shopping.
All volunteers must turn in a Volunteer Application in order to reserve their shift.
**All volunteers must be 18 years of age at minimum, and pass a background check through Megan's Law.
All new volunteers must attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
