About Foster an Animal in Need

We are always in need of volunteers to serve as fosters to dogs and cats that are at our shelter! If you can foster an animal in need for just 2 weeks, that animal will then qualify for the Homeward Bound Program at MSU!

When you sign up to foster, you agree to take a homeless animal into your home and give him or her love, care and attention until the animal is adopted. Our foster volunteers provide their animal with adequate food/water, shelter and toys as needed. We also hope you will help us get the word out about the animal you are fostering and help us find him/her a forever home!

Even with our physical animal shelter, we often run out of room for the animals in need. The number of animals we can help depends on how many foster families we have, so please consider opening your heart and your home to temporarily foster.

Application Process

Volunteers can come in during our normal operating hours - Tuesdays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM and Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM - to sign up to foster an animal.
In order to be a foster, you must be 18 years or older or accompanied by your parent/guardian and provide a photo ID with volunteer application. Our volunteer application can be accessed here under our documents: https://www.givegab.com/nonprofits/west-point-clay-county-animal-shelter/docs.

To sign up to be a foster, contact Lisa Henley at the West Point Clay County Animal Shelter at 662.524.4430 or [email protected].
