About Volunteer Readers for our Library 'Creating Musical Readers' Events

Creating Musical Readers is a musical literacy program for children ages 2 to 10, developed and presented by the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. WSO professional musicians bring beloved children’s stories to life, as the books are read by a volunteer reader, they play their musical instruments as part of “story time” at public libraries throughout the region. The WSO has even brought Creating Musical Readers into Waterbury Public schools for a special treat. The program literally captivates the children, and is FREE, interactive and fun for the young families.

Volunteer readers work with a Waterbury Symphony Musician, reading pre-selected stories.
