Someone who enjoys cooking and is available to help prepare food between 1:45 and 5:30 in the afternoon once a week or 2 – 3 times a month. The volunteer would need to observe others who have experience in the Warm Blessings Kitchen in order to feel comfortable with the task.
Volunteers to help serve and clean up weekdays between 5:00pm and 7:00pm.
A van driver to drive our 14 seat van to pick up patrons one day each week or 2 – 3 times a month. They would need to start the route about 4:00 and are done around 7:00. Anyone interested would need to ride along with others drivers to know the general route and get familiar with patrons before driving. No special license is necessary. A background check is required and a good driving record is important.
A “volunteer leader” willing to volunteer weekly or twice monthly to help direct other volunteers in serving and clean-up. We call this position Dining Room Coordinator. I like to have two people sharing this role. Anyone interested would also have a background check completed and generally need to like people and feel comfortable to be in a leadership role.
Persons interested in delivering meals to seniors on Monday and Thursday or one or the other day if that works best for your schedule. Interested volunteers are given an orientation and we do a background check and require copies of driver’s license and car insurance. Meal Delivery volunteers drive their own vehicle and deliver a meal to 2 or 3 seniors who are homebound. We try to assign routes that are at least somewhat convenient to the volunteer.
Volunteer to answer the phone and take message on weekday afternoons from 2 -4.
Day Shelter Volunteers supervise the building during the winter months for those needing a place to get in from the cold.
Van drivers and volunteers delivering meals to seniors must agree to a background check. All volunteers receive some form of orientation.
Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
