About KEEP KERN COUNTY COOL FAN DRIVE (June 2019) Date to be announced SOON!

KGET TV 17 is scheduled to partner with the Volunteer Center of Kern County on this worthwhile event to collect fans for our senior and disabled communities. Assist with collecting fans for Kern County's senior and disabled populations during our annual "Keep Kern County Cool Fan Drive". Every June, the Volunteer Center in conjunction with KGET TV 17, participate in an "all-day" televised event to encourage community members to donate fans or monetary donations to purchase fans for Kern County's seniors and disabled. Many or the recipients live on very limited incomes and cannot afford to operate cooling sources in their homes. Kern County experiences extreme heat during the summer months and many people experience health problems due to the heat. Volunteers assist on the day of the drive by greeting donors at the KGET studios at 2120 L Street, unloading fans from their vehicles and putting fans together for distribution. Other volunteers assist on the distribution days following the event at the Volunteer Center, 1311 Eye Street, to distribute fans to recipients reporting to the Volunteer Center to pick up their fans.
