Dig the Sanctuary Out of the Snow...

Donate or raise $1 for every inch of snow we've gotten this winter!

A fundraising campaign for VINE Sanctuary

We need you to help us dig out of the snow!!

It is February in Vermont, and with that comes lots of snow. VINE Sanctuary has already been buried in over 50 inches of snow this winter, and it's still coming down. Can you help us dig out?

Snow means added costs. Chickens and other birds need more food to stay warm. Cows and sheep rely completely on hay and grains since their pastures are under... yep, Snow!

We use a lot of diesel and gas to run the equipment that helps us dig out of... yes, you guessed it... SNOW!

Can you help us dig out, inch by inch, $1 by $1? And how about getting your friends to contribute?

The beginning of the year always sees the highest amount of costs but the least amount of donations. You can help us "dig out" from that annual deficit by setting up a fundraising page right here on GiveGab and inviting your friends and family members to contribute. Just click "Start Fundraising" to get going!

Here are some numbers to help you know how much to ask people to contribute:

$50 buys one 500lb bale of hay.

$29.90 buys 50lb of alpaca feed.

$27.15 buys 25lb of organic pelleted feed for chickens.

$10.90 buys 50lb of fortified grains for sheep.

$10.65 buys 50lb of fortified grains for cows.

$2.70 buys a gallon of diesel fuel for the tractors.

$2.25 buys a gallon of gasoline for the snowmobiles.

Or, you could just make a donation yourself and/or use the sharing tools above to share this page with your social circle.

Either way, THANK YOU in advance for all of your help!

Sunshine on the Snow

February 21, 2017

The weather here in Vermont has been variable these last few days. Warmer days have meant a welcome respite for the staff and animals, but freezing temperatures at night cause challenging, icy conditions every morning.  The animals have been through a lot in their lives, and so staff members don't mind working extra hard to keep them safe, warm, and well fed here at the sanctuary.

Despite several days of melting, we still have shoulder-high mounds of plowed and shoveled snow, walkways made of compacted snow, and about a foot of snow covering all of the pastures. Looking at the forecast for the next week or so, we see more warm days and cold nights... along with more snow.

And so, dealing with the snow is very much a work in progress.  As the staff and animals struggle together, your support is vital to getting us through to spring.  Can you help Athena, Elecktra, and the rest of our incredible animal community cope with the weather until warmer temperatures arrive?  They absolutely rely on your support.

We thank everyone who has already contributed to help cover the costs of digging the sanctuary out of the snow. We’re just past 20% of the way to our fundraising goal, with only three days to go. If you’ve not done so yet, please do tell everyone you know about your support for VINE!
