United Way is partnering up with the Columbus Public School system and seeking individuals (100) interested in becoming classroom VIPs! Your role will be to assist students with academic needs, reflect the qualities of a positive role model, provide emotional support and assist in developing basic learning skills.
You will be able to select any class K-5 in Fairview, Franklin, Joe Cook, Sales, or Stokes Beard Elementary.
We are looking for individuals that can volunteer 1 to 5 days per week for 4 to 20 hours per week. (Mornings)
The following are required: Background check (provided by the CMSD), physical exam letter (from doctor), attend orientation (provided by UW & CMSD), and signed letter of confidentiality (provided by CMSD).
Volunteer are NOT:
Serving in staff roles
Performing clerical, household or custodial functions
Serving as babysitters
Acting as substitute teachers, teacher's aides, group leaders, or similar positions
Supervising of children or staff
Disciplining or punishing children in any way
Target start date: Monday, September 12, 2016
