About Cancer Hospital Volunteers!
Welcome Cancer Hospital Volunteers! We are excited for this opportunity to work with you! If you are interested in volunteering in the cancer center you can read about some of the opportunites for volunteers to provide both patient and staff support in the North Carolina Cancer Hospital opening August 17, 2009. Since most of the cancer treatments are done on an outpatient basis, the hours for volunteers will be from 8:00AM-5:00PM Monday through Friday.
We need volunteers to help with:
Greeters/Escort
Provide patients with a personal escort to their destination in both adult and
pediatric clinics.
o Volunteers will meet patients at the main entrance and radiation
oncology
o escort patients to the registration desk or their clinic destination
o Volunteers will provide light conversation to help ease the stress of the
patient and their family (i.e. telling them about the new hospital, answer
questions, talk about current events, UNC sports, etc.)
pediatric clinics.
o Volunteers will meet patients at the main entrance and radiation
oncology
o escort patients to the registration desk or their clinic destination
o Volunteers will provide light conversation to help ease the stress of the
patient and their family (i.e. telling them about the new hospital, answer

Adult Clinic Volunteers
Greet patients upon arrival at the clinic, especially infusion
· Volunteers will check on patients waiting in exam rooms to see if they need a
beverage, reading material
· Run errands to other departments
· Escort patients to other treatment areas
