About Project REACH 2019-2020

Project REACH (Reaching Education And Changing Healthcare) is a partnership between the University of Mississippi Medical Center and Barrack H. Obama Magnet Elementary school. The goal of this partnership is to enhance the teaching and learning of science concepts at the elementary school level and expose a diverse group of students to educational and career opportunities in the medical sciences.

By developing students' science content knowledge and stimulating their interest in the medical sciences, this partnership also aims to create a pool of residents who will be interested in and more capable of serving the future health needs of the population of Mississippi.

Currently, volunteers from the SGSHS at the University of Mississippi Medical Center teach interactive science lessons to students in grades 3-5. These lessons focus on life science and connect to the trans-disciplinary units of inquiry being taught at these grade levels.

Application Process

Sign up for a lesson below THEN email Dr. Hanna Broome ([email protected]) with the details of the lesson you will teach. Dr. Broome will send additional information and instructions from the elementary school.
