About UlsterCorps Glean Team

UlsterCorps is building a corps of volunteers, our Glean Team to assist in growing, gleaning, processing and transporting food from local farms to local food pantries and soup kitchens as part of our Hunger Project Collaboration. The Hunger Project is a coalition of local workers and volunteers from Community Gardens and Farms, Gleaners, Processors, Storage Facilities, Food Pantries and Soup Kitchens working together to help make the connections that will feed more people in our communities. Farmers are generously offering to donate fresh produce but need help getting it to those in need. We work in collaboration with the Rondout Valley Growers Association Farm to Food Pantry Program, Family of Woodstock, Mohonk Consultations, Woodcrest Community,Caring Hands Soup Kitchen, Cornell Cooperative Extension, CRREO at SUNY New Paltz, Huguenot Street Farm, Phillies Bridge Farm and other local farms and food pantries.

In 2015, UlsterCorps continued to recruit volunteers and participate in gleanings at local farms and processings at local community kitchens throughout the growing season, including weekly gleanings at Huguenot Street Farm in New Paltz. In partnership with Rondout Valley Growers Association and Family, over 60,000 lbs of fresh food donated by local farms was harvested and distributed to 28 food pantries, shelters and feeding programs this season, increasing food security for thousands of families in Ulster County.

Join our Glean Team and be a part of this fun and rewarding project! Register here to sign up or call us at (845) 481-0331.

Thank you to the wonderful volunteers & generous farmers who helped out with previous gleanings!!
