Injury is the leading cause of death and disability among children, teens and young adults. The good news: most injuries can be prevented by making safe choices.
The mission of the ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation is to reduce injuries through education, research and advocacy. By thinking first, traumatic injuries can help prevent permanent paralysis, disabling brain injuries and loss of quality-of-life. Treatments are not yet available for curing severe brain and spinal cord injuries. Learning how to prevent these injuries is available.
ThinkFirst offers educations presentation and programs for schools and communities. Injury prevention educators explain the importance of protecting the brain and spinal cord from a basic health perspective. Students learn how injuries affect the body and discover how simple habits and smart choices can lower their risk for injury.
