About Tutor Small Children in White Plains

Passage to Excellence Corporation

Volunteers are needed to work with children two afternoons a week, for an hour, between 4pm and 5:30pm.

Description of job: Work with a child or small group of children (two to three at most) twice a week for a period up to an hour, from November 2014 through June, 2015, helping them work through difficulties or challenges that individual child may experience in reading, writing and/or mathematics. Tutors will need to engage each child in a supportive, positive relationship that allows that child to feel comfortable and supported in addressing learning challenges and helps build their confidence in themselves as able learners. Tutors will meet as a group on a periodic basis with the educator who oversees the program, to discuss tutoring techniques, challenges with their students and anything else that helps the tutors be successful in helping the children they work with.

Volunteers will need to participate in an interview/orientation prior to November, and are asked to commit to the full length of the program, from November to June 2015.
