31st Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless and Hungry

On Thursday, November 27, 2014, The Sharing Community will host our 31st Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless and Hungry at our site at #1 Hudson Street in Yonkers.



Every day of the year our shelters and Soup Kitchen help the neediest members of our community. We provide a nutritious lunch to 160 - 200 people each afternoon, and we house or shelter well over 150 people each night.



Observing the traditions of Thanksgiving each year brings our community closer together. It reinforces the need to support each other in difficult and often lonely times. We want our guests to know someone is thinking of and cares about each and every one of them.



If you helped with or supported our dinner in the past, you already know what a wonderful day this was for nearly 300 guests.



We need your donations

Due to the fact that we provide a traditional meal with “all the fixins” – cider, eggnog, turkey, vegetables, salad, pie, and fruit and entertainment – it is admittedly an expensive proposition. Since storage space is limited, we would appreciate gifts of money rather than food. Please mail your check to us at P.O. Box 657, Yonkers, NY 10702, or donate online. We will provide you with a donation receipt to support your tax deduction.



We need volunteers.

If you are planning to volunteer on Thanksgiving Eve or Day, you must phone ahead and reserve a time and assignment, as space is very limited. Our cutoff date is November 14, 2014 or whenever we become fully booked. Please call Lenora Johnson at (914) 963-2626 x245.
