About Science Barge Beautification and Cleanup in Yonkers

For Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Groundwork Hudson Valley's Science Barge, the floating sustainable farm, is looking for volunteers to clean and sanitize their materials. The volunteers will also be scrubbing the greenhouses metal frames, cleaning the hydroton-substrate, painting the model greenroof and possibly building a woody-vine arbor to go over the gangplank.

Although the project is inside, please note there is limited heat. Dress appropriately for the weather and to get dirty.

The Science Barge is located at the end of Dock Street in Yonkers, relatively close to the Riverfront Library.

Be a part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

About Groundwork: Groundwork Hudson Valley is an environmental justice non-profit that works with communities to improve their physical and social environment. This is done by collaborating on projects, among them: turning dangerous vacant lots into community gardens, planting trees, replacing graffiti with murals, and forming alliances within the community.
