About Book Drive for Young Children

Open Door Family Medical Centers is in need of new and gently used board books and children's picture books. Books are used 2 ways: the doctors and providers use new developmentally appropriate books to give to preschooler children during well visits and literacy volunteers use gently used books in the waiting rooms as teaching tools to model reading with children.

Your help is needed to donate new and gently used books including:

board books
children's picture books
Books can also be dropped off during the week at Open Door Centers. More information about drop off times and locations here.

This opportunity is an extension of Volunteer New York!’s “9/11: Serve + Remember” Day of Service event. There are almost 30 meaningful ways you can give back in your community from September 11th through the 13th and honor the memories of those who were lost by being a part of this community-wide action event.
