About The Climate, Ocean and Weather Institute - Urban Farm Team (Eco Friendly Group)

Headquartered at Drew Freeman Middle School, the programs target aspects of Science,Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
C.O.W. Program Goals
Goal 1: To build community networks to develop and influence the interest, preparation (knowledge), and exploration for 4th – 12th grade students from traditionally underrepresented populations (African-American, Hispanic and Latino, and female) using ocean and climate remote sensing data, science, and technology for student education, careers, and workforce development to support NOAA’s mission-related workforce of the future.
Goal 2: To increase community of practice for four 4th – 8th grade teachers through professional development that expand their content, interest, and exploration in ocean and climate sciences and increase their ability to effectively impart this knowledge and skill to their students.
