About Volunteer Coordinator Internship

The Salvation Army is pleased to offer a fall semester service-learning internship program in Volunteer Coordination. You will be assisting to make sure that each program is staffed with the best volunteers possible to help the hungry, homeless, and hurting individuals that the Salvation Army assists every day of the year.

Organization Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church based within the Scriptures of the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Salvation Army has been serving the Nashville community since 1890, extending a resourceful hand of assistance to families in greatest need, so that they may lift themselves from crisis to stability and independence.

Overview: The Salvation Army is a well-known and trusted organization in the nonprofit community. However, even though everyone recognizes the name and The Red Shield logo, few have a true understanding of what the organization stands for, who is involved, who we assist and the services we provide to the community.
In 2010, with the support of Salvation Army Officers, administrative staff, volunteers and donors, we were able to serve 35,375 people with services such as transitional housing, child care, life skills training classes, emergency services, disaster assistance, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, after school and summer programs for the children in our community, Christmas assistance, outreach during our feeding ministry and most importantly spiritual guidance!

When: Start date will be at the start of the semester you are selected and end the week prior to finals.

Hours: Flexible unpaid hourly internship, credit hours are available. Time commitment can be flexible based upon the class requirements/availability of the intern.
