Opening a Door of Hope in the Philippines
The Poor Household of God is an Illinois 501c3 charitable organization started 10 years ago by a group of missioners from the Diocese of Joliet Partnership in Mission.
In Borongan, Eastern Samar, Philippines the missioners had a chance meeting with the sisters of OIKOS PTOCHOS TOU (Poor Household of God Mission). After seeing the humble Oikos Sisters work to meet the great needs of the poorest people of Borongan and its' surrounding barrios they decided their "Mission after the Mission" was to raise funding to help the Oikos Sisters grow their programs of education, food and shelter, dental and medical care, livelihood programs, sustainable gardens, and piglet program.
100% of Your Donation Today Will Go Directly to the Purchase of the Building Materials for the Charity Village Community Center!
The Sisters dreamed of building a Charity Village to provide dignified housing for the poorest families. Their dream is shaping into a reality! With donated land and through the hard work and generosity of so many people, like YOU, the modest homes are being built, a road has been cleared, and a site designated for a COMMUNITY CENTER. This center is primarily needed as a safe refuge for villagers during typhoons! It will also serve as a location for education, skills training, outreach, meetings, activity camps for children.
