The Literacy Connection has over 100 adults in our community waiting to be matched with a tutor like you! Would you like to help?

Our Tutors help other adults with their English literacy skills, at a time and place convenient for both tutor and learner. NO PRIOR TEACHING OR TUTORING EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED! We’ll train and guide you through the tutoring process. Join us at one of our upcoming Tutor Orientations to learn more!

Potential volunteers need to attend a total of 12 hours of training to become a volunteer tutor, which includes a one-hour orientation. Specialized strategies for English as a Second Language (ESL) and Basic Literacy tutoring are provided. Once you complete training you will be matched with a learner. You will meet at a minimum of 4 hours per month with your learner at a mutually convenient time and public place. We ask that tutors commit to a minimum of one year of service.
