About HELP TEAM VOLUNTEER

We are always in need of volunteer mental health professionals (e.g., Social Workers, Psycologists, Therapists, etc.) for our resident camp programs. Previous HIV/AIDS experience is NOT necessary.

At our camp programs we strive to positively impact the lives of children and families living with HIV and AIDS by helping them develop life skills needed to create healthy, happy and prosperous lives. “The Help Team” supports this mission by providing mental health assessments and interventions, including risk assessments, behavior intervention plans and conflict resolution. In addition, we encourage our Help Team to really take advantage of the camp experience by participating in activities and getting to know these amazing children. Campfires, hiking, arts & crafts, and cabin skits are just a few of the activities you might enjoy while at camp.

Application Process

Our campers’ parents place the safety of their children in our hands while at camp, and we take that responsibility very seriously. As such, we are very specific with the requirements for all our volunteers.

All Camp Laurel Help Team Volunteers must:

- Have a Masters Degree from an accredited School of Social Work, or equivalent education; prefer licensure as a mental health professional
- Demonstrate experience and expertise in crisis intervention
- Have the desire and ability to work with children in the outdoors
- Ability to accept supervision, guidance and constructive feedback
- Possess enthusiasm, patience, energy, and humor
- Ability to abstain from all phone usage (except in the event of an emergency) for the duration of camp session

Additionally, all Camp Laurel volunteers must:

- Be a US citizen or legal resident
- Be able to provide 3 professional references
