About BalloonFest

This year is the 31st Anniversary of the Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Fest! Don’t miss, dozens of hot air balloons will lead a fun-filled weekend for children and adults of all ages. The three-day event will include several competitive balloon races and fun flights, two spectacular balloon glows, two incredible firework presentations, children’s activities, great food, and great entertainment.

The City of Canton Parks and Recreation in collaboration with Canton Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Mid-Mississippi Balloon Association and The Good Samaritan Center, invite you to the 31st Annual Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Race and Festival. We will needs lots of volunteers over the course of the weekend!

Thursday, June 30th there will be two events that volunteers will be needed for. The first is a Media Flight (held Thursday and Friday morning) at the Canton Multi-Purpose Center. Volunteers will be needed to help crew hot air balloons, and most times volunteers will have the chance to ride in an hot air balloon! The other is a kickoff party for the balloonists in downtown Canton. Balloons will fly weather permitting,and we will have food and drinks. It's a big party, but we could always use extra hands passing out food, preparing food, and setup/breakdown.

-Friday, July 1st will be the BalloonGlow at Northpark Mall in Ridgeland. Volunteers are needed to help pass information about the weekend, sell Golfball Drop tickets, setup/breakdown, selling merchandise, and encouraging people to sign up for the race.

- Saturday, July 2nd, volunteers will be needed throughout the day. The Balloon Chase and Golfball Drop will be held that evening. Times will vary based on the duties which include crewing balloons, working as a race marshal, working a water stop, registration, setup and breakdown, serving food and more! This is a really fun day to work, because all the balloons will be setup on a large field. At the end of the night, there will be a big firework show.
