About Homework Help Tutoring Program

Volunteer Tutor Duties:

Commitment to Students:
-Offer individual or small group attention.
-Help with homework in ways that extend children's understanding and interest
-Support the learning that happens within the classroom.
-Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
-Review and assist students with class worksheets or other assignments.
-Develop creative and engaging methods to teach/assist with homework material.
-Remain flexible, compassionate and energetic when working with students.

Structure of Homework Help program:
-One on one appointment with student scheduled between Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30m to 6pm
-Group assistance based on students who walk in on Homework Help days

Required Documents:
We will need the following documents on file before you begin your placement with The Corner:
-Proof of vaccination - *mask covering mouth and nose will be required for all homework help sessions
-PA Child Abuse Clearance
-PA Criminal Background Check
-Confirmation that you are able to attend all sessions listed so we can pair each student with a tutor
