The Bridge Center

About Us

The Bridge Center offers year round therapeutic horseback riding lessons to children and adults of all abilities. Therapeutic horseback riding provides physical, cognitive, behavioral, social, and emotional benefits to participants. Participants are taught traditional riding skills using adaptive equipment and teaching methods, specially trained horses, and the support of up to three volunteers, in lessons tailored to the unique needs of each participant.

Lessons are offered Tuesday through Saturday, in either a group or private setting. All lessons are taught by PATH International Certified and Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructors.

Therapeutic Riding will only offer group lessons at the following times: Tuesday-Friday after 3:00PM and Saturday 9:00AM-4:00PM

For children and adults who are not interested in or are unable to participate in our mounted activities, The Bridge Center is proud to offer a therapeutic unmounted horsemanship program. Our unmounted lessons are tailored to the individual’s unique interests and abilities. Unmounted activities include but are not limited to: horse handling, equine nutrition, grooming and tacking, equine anatomy, basic wound care, and teamwork with the horse. Benefits include building self-confidence, social skills, responsibility, and following multi-step directions, and many more.

All lessons are taught by PATH International Certified and Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructors.

All participants will be assessed before enrollment into the horsemanship program.

Have you made the home schooling decision for your child? Have an animal lover? Not quite sure how to cover physical education hours and hands-on science requirements?
The Bridge Center is now offering a horsemanship program that will check these items off your requirement list!

Within this two hour, unmounted weekly program, participants will gain the knowledge and experience in specific equine areas and all while working towards their school requirements. The program will entail learning about nutrition for equines, and the parts of the horse, and how the horse’s body works. Participants will have hands on experience grooming, learning about the tack and how to properly tack a horse. Throughout the program participants will gain the skills to work hands-on with the horses and lead them through obstacle courses within our indoor arena, and much more.

Not only will participants receive benefits for school, they will also be able to work on social skills amongst peers, mentorship, and building self-confidence through working alongside our horses and staff.

This program is offered during the school year. Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and barn environment (i.e. closed toed shoes, long pants, clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty!) During the winter time there are heated classrooms where activities will be held. This program is taught by Trish Gosselin, Riding Center Director, MA Licensed Instructor

Our goal is to provide a positive learning experience for riders of all ages and levels in a safe and fun environment. All lessons are goal orientated and provide both unmounted and mounted time with our equines. We believe in teaching all aspects of riding from getting the equine to putting it away. All lessons are taught by MA Licensed Riding Instructors.
