About Yuri's Night

On April 12, 2018, the Texarkana Museums System will host our first ever Yuri's Night Event at Discovery Place Interactive Museum.
Yuri’s Night is a global celebration of humanity’s past, present, and future in space. Yuri’s Night parties and events are held around the world every April in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human to venture into space on April 12, 1961, and the inaugural launch of the first Space Shuttle on April 12, 1981.
This event is also a part of our commitment to expand science and earth learning throughout our community and helped us achieve a grant from the NISE Foundation and secure the 2018 NISE toolkit with valuable hands on science and earth activities we will use at Yuri's Night and in our museum and community for years to come.
Volunteers are needed to help setup activities, food and act as facilitators during the event.

Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
