About Volunteer Crisis Counselor
You're one of those rare people who listens and responds without judgement. You do more listening than talking. While some people see the glass as half-empty, you see it as half-full and look for the possibilities. You're not a "fixer". Rather, you're motivated by a desire to help people draw their own conclusions and find the solution on their own.
Volunteer Crisis Counselors play a special role at Suicide Prevention & Crisis Service. They're the heart and soul of our organization, and we couldn't do what we do without them.
As a Volunteer Counselor, you'll receive 45 hours of training in crisis counseling and suicide intervention skills. You'll work with the staff to support people through telephone and online chats for the Crisisline. And you'll receive ongoing training and support to help you further grow and develop.
Nights and weekends are required.
