About Dancing for a Cause

Suicide Prevention & Crisis Service (SPCS) of Ithaca is seeking fundraising dancers to support the organization’s second annual Dancing for a Cause event. Like the many races, runs, and walkathons that raise funds for non-profits nationwide, Dancing for a Cause presents supporters with the unique opportunity to raise funds – in this case, through social dance. The event has raised $5,500 to date with 28 fundraising dancers participating. The organization’s goal is to recruit 50 fundraising dancers and raise $20,000, an ambitious increase over last year’s total of $12,000.
SPCS, a cornerstone of the Ithaca mental health community, is celebrating its 45th year of suicide and crisis education, outreach, and prevention in 2014.
The fundraising effort will be celebrated in a social dance on Saturday, March 1 at LaTourelle Resort and Spa. The night will feature music by The Destination, a nine-piece dance band that specializes in R&B, Latin jazz, swing and funk. Prizes will be awarded to the top-raising individuals and teams, including a one-night stay, $100 in services, and breakfast for two at LaTourelle Resort and Spa. Tickets are$20 general admission, space permitting.
SPCS is seeking more dancers to join them for this one-of-a-kind event and fundraise on behalf of the organization. To sign up or for more information, visit the SPCS website at (www.ithacacrisis.org) or call 607-272-1505.
