About IN CONVERSATION: Tom Eccles, Mark Handforth, and Irving Sandler Discuss the Work and Career of Mark di Suvero
Tom Eccles, executive director of the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College; Mark Handforth, artist; and Irving Sandler, art critic and historian, discuss the art and career of preeminent sculptor Mark di Suvero. The three men, each of whom has worked closely with the artist, will consider di Suvero’s work in the context of his career and the history of modern sculpture. Storm King Art Center, the event’s host, has had a long and celebrated history with di Suvero—his large-scale work is an integral element of Storm King’s 500-acre landscape in Mountainville, NY. In 2011, Storm King presented a major exhibition of di Suvero’s work on Governors Island and worked with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy to install the artist’s soaring Yoga on the Park’s Pier 1.
Beer has been lovingly provided by Brooklyn Brewery.
Free and open to the public. No reservations are required; first come, first seated. Directions to NYFA: F train to York Street Station; A train to High Street/Brooklyn Bridge station. Additional information, email [email protected].
Storm King’s educational programs are held in honor of Mark di Suvero, and are made possible by the generous support of the Charina Endowment Fund.
