About Volunteering at Michigan Department of Health and Human Services

Volunteering activities at MDHHS include:
Helping clients at MDHHS apply for benefits in the lobby which include food, medical, cash assistance, healthcare and childcare. Also help with applying for emergency needs such as utility shut off and rent.
Volunteers can also help the registration staff with scanning and indexing applications that are received from clients.
Volunteers can also help assist with medical transportation and scheduling rides for clients.
Volunteers can also help answer phone calls and update excel spreadsheets.
Volunteers can also help clients with uploading documents to their case.
Volunteers can also help Child Protective Services and Foster Care with visitations.
Volunteers can also help with driving clients to doctors and appointments and driving children to the office who need visitations with parents.
Application Process
Volunteers have to submit an volunteer application which consist of a back ground check and availability forms.
