About Used Clothing Donations
SAINT PAULY USED CLOTHING DROP-OFF
Our parish houses a clothing shed that collects bagged clothing donations for individuals in need. The nonprofit organization that collects and distributes the clothes to third world countries is St. Pauly Textiles Inc. To utilize this ministry, just place unneeded clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, pillowcases, blankets, curtains, and stuffed animals in plastic trash bags, tie securely and toss them into the opening on the front side of the shed. Items that are not textiles, including furniture, electronics, household items, books, toys, garbage, pillows, rags, and fabric scraps are not accepted. They may be donated to Spiderweb's here in Jefferson.
Why Donate rather than toss into the trash?
1) According to the EPA, 85% of clothing in the U.S. is thrown away. This means that only about 15% of clothing that could potentially be re-used is collected using existing methods.
2) There is an enormous global need for used clothing. We are able to distribute clothing to organizations and people all over the world who will use it. All of the clothing and textiles that we collect will be used by someone, somewhere.
