About San Antonio Miss Sweetheart Special Needs Pageant

The Miss Sweetheart Special Needs Pageant is a non-profit organization that provides young ladies with intellectual disabilities of any age and their families with a full pageant opportunity and experience. We want to not only enrich the lives of our contestants and families, but enrich the lives of our sponsors and volunteers through their time spent with us. This pageant will last a day, but the memories will last a lifetime.

VOLUNTEER GUIDLINES
Guidelines:
First, we want to stress how much you are appreciated for spending your time with us. Without volunteers like you, we would not be able to produce this event. Thank you for helping make these special dreams come true for these special young ladies.
- Due to the young ladies we are working with, please don't bring small children with you to volunteer. We have special needs young ladies that need our complete and undivided attention. Children under 10years are welcome to come with another adult and watch this life changing event. 10-13 year olds may volunteer with a parent to accompany them for their entire shift. 14 and older may volunteer unaccompanied.
-Lunch/dinner is provided for you. You will go to the hospitality area for your meal.
-Come dressed to work. Acceptable attire is appropriate shorts, capris, jeans, leggings, long maxi dress. Absolutely no low cut shirts, strapless anything, short dresses, platform heels or midriff showing shirts. We are counting on you so please don't leave us short volunteers due to you not dressing appropriately.
-If you are a pageant title holder of any system, you are not allowed to bring or wear your crown/banner. They will not be allowed in the building. You are allowed to take pictures with the Sweetheart Queens, but without your crown and banner. We want all the attention to be on our Sweetheart Queens. This is their time to shine and you are here to help make this a memory of a life time for them.
-You may be assigned more than one job. Some positions are only for short periods of time so you will have the opportunity to serve in more than one place.
- You will receive a lanyard, please return it to volunteer check-in when you are finished for the day. It is important that we are able to reuse them.
- If you are needing a volunteer service form, you will receive it when you check out and return our name tag.
-Working with these special young ladies we have to be able to adapt.
