About Building Futures AmeriCorps Program

We are looking now for Part-Time volunteers for Building Futures to begin service by 1/15/2016 and to serve up to 9 months with the program.

Building Futures is a new AmeriCorps program in Hattiesburg with a goal to build & repair 20 homes for low-income residents of Forrest and Lamar Counties. The program is coordinated by the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District and seeks to connect AmeriCorps members with local agencies engaged in building and rehabilitation of low-income housing. Members will receive training in construction by serving with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and R3SM.

The are 15 Part-Time service positions available! Volunteers can serve 900 or 675 hours between December 1, 2015 and August 31, 2016 to receive an Education Award from AmeriCorps. 900 hour volunteers will also receive a small living stipend during their nine months of service. You must be at least 18 years old and have your own reliable transportation to serve. This would be an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to give back to the local community and really impact the lives of others.
