About Volunteering

Community involvement was the basis of South County Outreach’s founding and continues to be instrumental today. Started as a neighborhood food cupboard by a concerned business leader, South County Outreach’s roots are in volunteer leadership. This continues today with more than 250 volunteers working a “shift” weekly; 1,600 volunteers actively engaged annually, and a dedicated board of directors made up of volunteers. Our volunteers come from civic organizations, religious organizations, schools, area businesses and corporations and as general citizens who want to make a difference. The volunteer workforce enables South County Outreach to direct resources to client services, as well as continue grassroots support and engagement. We have two volunteer shifts each day, five days a week as well as weekend opportunities.
