About Mentor and Meals Volunteers

The program is meant to help students achieve a better academic standing by providing them with all the tools and resources available to the community such as tutoring and mentoring them on their daily homework. In addition, the program will offer students hot meals at the end of the tutoring sessions in order, to cover the basic needs of each student in regards to their well-being. Most importantly, the program is highly needed within the Somali community, as there is great need for improving the academic performance of students and help guide them through a successful future. It’s evident that many students fail in their academic career due to the lack of effective counseling, and at the same time their parents are not aware of their children performance due to lack of language. For instance, many of the parents in the Somali community do not speak English to a level where they could help their children with homework. Therefore, this program would come in handy for many of them, especially it would enhance the level of students throughout the academic school year.

Family-Friendly

Parents and children are invited and encouraged to get involved.
