About Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Diocesan Council of Austin: Volunteer Details

Client Services: Client services Center volunteers will distribute assistance, including bus passes, clothing vouchers, snack packs, and household and hygiene items, to Central Texas neighbors in need. Client services responsibilities may also include stocking, inventory tasks, and other duties as assigned. Ideal opportunity for those interested in social services. Flexible hours. Volunteers are needed Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Data Entry: Data entry volunteers will assist with updating records, filing paperwork, and developing monthly reports for client services at the Vincentian Family Center. Flexible hours.

Food Pantry: Food pantry volunteers will help our neighbors fill out assistance paperwork and then navigate our client-choice food pantry and select items via thrift store vouchers for clothing and household goods. May also include stocking and inventory tasks. Great hands-on opportunity for those interested in direct client services. Volunteers are needed Saturday from 8:45am to 12:30pm. Food pantry stocking is done on Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Snack Pack Assembly: Help put together provisions (comprised of water, snacks, small hygiene items, etc.) for clients at the Vincentian Family Center and Thrift Store. These lightweight snack packs are distributed to neighbors without homes throughout the week. Excellent opportunity for small groups.

Essential Household and Hygiene Kit Assembly: Help assemble essential household and hygiene kits for clients in need at the Vincentian Family Center and Thrift Store.

Thrift Store: Volunteer responsibilities include: greet customers and ensure they have a positive shopping experience; restock and organize merchandise; tag items for sale; sort donations; create merchandise displays; maintain cleanliness of the store; and assist with accepting donations. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity and it helps in supporting programs provided by the Society.
